The Reality of Consulting

Most consultants leave graduate school with strong knowledge of mental skills and psychological models.  But real consulting environments are different from the classroom.

When you get out there, you quickly realize that:

  • Even if you know how to apply theory, it feels heavy.  Creating intervention plans from scratch every time

  • Sessions can feel improvised

  • Trying to communicate value doesn't resonate with leaders

These are just a few examples of consulting in the real world.  Establishing and refining a clear process helps consultants move from simply knowing concepts to delivering confident, effective services.  School teaches isolated concepts, I work with consultants to put into a working process then can confidently follow and show value in.
